In March 2022, a delegation from Thanh Du Minh Co., Ltd., including Mr. Kang (Director), Ms. Nhu, and Ms. Quynh (Procurement Department), conducted a field survey in Dak Lak – a core source of high-quality Vietnamese coffee. This trip was experiential, aimed at both scouting new suppliers and listening to authentic stories from farmers to gain a deeper understanding of the essence of coffee and the agricultural heritage of the highland region.

Key Destinations Visited

During the trip, the delegation visited several leading coffee processing and export enterprises in Dak Lak, including:

• Bazan Do Company – a unit specializing in producing international-standard green coffee beans.

• NXK 2-9 Dak Lak Factory – notable for its large-scale processing plant system.

• Kien Cuong Company – capable of supplying a diverse range of coffee, from raw materials to deep-processed products.

Each unit provided a different perspective on the coffee market, ranging from modern processing technology to stories of developing local brands.

Coffee and the Stories from the Farmers

A special highlight of the field trip was the opportunity to interact directly with the farmers – individuals who have dedicated their lives to the coffee plant. From selecting seeds and tending the plants to harvesting and preliminary processing techniques, every story revealed their meticulousness, perseverance, and love for their native produce.

Through these conversations, the delegation gained a clearer understanding of why Dak Lak coffee possesses its special flavor: the Arabica from the high mountains is delicate with a slight acidity; the Robusta from the lower plateau is strong, bold, and robust. This is a unique identity that cannot be replicated elsewhere.

Significance of the Trip

The trip to Dak Lak not only yielded a list of potential suppliers but also helped the company build a profound knowledge foundation of the Vietnamese coffee industry. Connecting directly with farmers, processors, and exporters opened up opportunities for comprehensive cooperation: from raw materials to value-added products.

More importantly, the trip affirmed Thanh Du Minh’s long-term direction: distributing high-quality, clearly traceable Vietnamese coffee, intimately linked to the local people and land.
